Meet the plant virus that may help cure cancer
Not all viruses are bad, and one in particular may have the power to stop cancer. Researchers at the University of California San Diego are studying how a plant virus called cowpea mosaic virus stops cancer and prevents it from coming back. Their latest research shows that when the virus infects cancerous cells, it signals to the immune system and extends the anti-cancer response toward the tumor. Full Story

CAR-T cell therapy has been a boon for treating blood cancers, but some of its major shortcomings have prevented it from being used safely and effectively in treating other cancers and going after solid tumors. Potential solutions to these problems are still in the early stages, but scientists are beginning to get a vision of what the future of CAR-T cell therapy might look like.
